The Audubon Society of Ohio bird walk, lead by Mark Gilsdorf, found a YELLOW RAIL today in a dry, grassy field at Armelder Park in Hamilton County. Also in the group were Chris Moran, Jim Stitchcomb, Les Houser, and John (last name?) .

We were walking the field looking for sparrows, and had already found an Eastern Meadowlark and 3 Bobolinks when a different bird flushed and flew away from us. Its dangling legs and weak, reluctant flight said "rail" to us, and its size was right for Sora or Yellow. We flushed it a second time and were rewarded with a longer flight parallel to our position, allowing us to see the yellowish back with dark streaking and the white wing patch in the secondaries. We declined to pursue the bird further.

The Otto Armleder Park is an Cincinnati city park, and is located at 5059 Wooster Pike, near Lunken Airfield and bordered on the east side by the Little Miami River.
