There was a large, v active mixed flock when I first got to Denison this chilly morning. Unfortunately, the birds were fairly high or in dense, shaded tangles or darting in & out of thick-leaved trees so I had a lot of trouble getting on individual birds long enough to ID them. Nice to see good numbers & all the activity but frustrating, too. The flock hung around for maybe 30 minutes then evaporated. Not many stragglers after the main flock left so I went over to lobdell but not much there.

Highlights at Denison were a N Parula singing its dawn song & finally giving a good view and good looks at a Black-thr Green (have not seen many so far this fall). Several empids around and lots of bill-snapping.
