I saw pretty much saw all the ducks Rob Thorn reported yesterday at this area although I saw only one Trumpeter Swan but at panhandle (and no Fox Sparrow altho I saw one White-throated; no Sandhills).
Still hundreds of N Pintails at the Marsh east of panhandle rd—quite a sight even if they were too far for photo opps. Scope views great. Something got them all up which made for a fantastic sight—haven’t seen a cloud of that many ducks for awhile. Did not see an Eagle so not sure what spooked them.
Finally saw a couple Blue-winged Teal briefly (panhandle)—I’ve missed these everywhere else these last couple weeks. One Pied-billed Grebe & a few Hooded Mergansers, also at panhandle.
Saw at least 2, possibly 4 imm Bald Eagles.
Also saw a muskrat munching on something out in the open in some shallow water—kind of interesting. I think the stiff N wind kept my scent from him as I was able to watch him for quite awhile then he vanished in a flash when he finally noticed me.
Ducks: N Shoveler, N Pintail, Am Wigeon, mallard, Ring-necked (high numbers), Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Redhead, Gadwall, Canvasback, Green-winged & Blue-winged Teal. Coots, Pied-billed Grebe (seen & heard calling); Hooded Merganser.
Gorgeous sunny day but that gusty N wind was rather brisk...
