I spent a few hours this morning working further north along the Scioto River than we reached during the Audubon field trip yesterday. I started at Long St. Dam, then moved to Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff, and Griggs dam. The quarries and ponds, including huge Watermark Lake, were still frozen over, but the river was mostly open, and that's where most stuff was hiding. Notables included:

Dabblers - only Mallards plus a handful of Black Ducks
Ring-necked Ducks - a flock of 35 was in the River near Marble Cliff (bikepath at Hangar Clinic)
Bufflehead - a pari were in the river below Griggs Dam
ComGoldeneye - a lone female was in the river at Marble Cliff, while 3 more females were in the river below Griggs dam
HoodedMergansers - small groups at many places, topped by 30 in the river at Marble Cliff
BaldEagle - an immature was soaring over the disc golf course below Griggs dam
Cooper's Hawk - at least 1 was patrolling feeders in Grandview Heights
Gulls - 100+ Ring-billed were hanging around the spillway at Griggs dam, along with 1 juvie Herring
Woodpeckers - lots of Downies along the river, but the only Red-bellies & 1 Hairy were away from the river (WymanWoods)
BrownCreepers - 4 were along the river below Griggs dam, including one crazy bird that was singing!
White-throated Sparrows - small flocks at nearly every stop, topped by 20+ in Grandview Heights
