A White-winged Scoter has been present for over a week on the Ohio River at Gallipolis Locks & Dam. Friends have reported it from the WV side of the river looking from inside the Apple Grove Fish hatchery, and this evening I was able to locate it amongst a group of Canvasback on the north side of the dam. A scope is highly recommended.
This evening as the sun set, I watched a Short-eared Owl hunt the grasslands in Crown City Wildlife Management Area. I had 2 in the same location last weekend.
