A quick visit to several access points around lower Hoover Reservoir (NE of Columbus) found little in the way of waterbirds on this cold morning. Fog shrouded the reservoir until almost 9:30, but bird movement was meager even when the fog lifted. Stops at the dam, Maxtown boat launch, and the Sunbury causeway found little other than small #s of geese and cormorants. Notables included

Turkey Vultures - flocks of 20 at Maxtown and 90+ east of Sunbury causeway rose up once the fog lifted

Osprey - not on Hoover, but further south along Big Walnut Creek near Morse Rd, soaring south along the creek

Bonaparte's Gulls - small #s at all 3 stops, perhaps 30 total

E.Bluebirds - flocks of 6 and 4 passed south over the dam; I heard them in other locations as well, so they're on the move

Kinglets - Ruby-crowns at several stops, including 2 in the foliage east of the dam

Juncos - good influx, with flocks of 8-12 at every stop. This is a big jump from the prior days.
