Feeling some cabin fever, I wandered out as the temps rose to Pick Ponds. The feeder by the wood duck parking area was busy with the expected birds but I was happy to see a few White-crowned Sparrows (at least 2 adults) and some Am Tree sparrows in the mix.

Feeding in the dry weeds were more Am Tree, White-throated, & Song sparrows as well as juncos, Siskins and a Downy WP. Only nuthatch was White-breasted.

Had a nice pair of N Harriers—a female and a male on the verge of his lovely great gray ghost plumage. I saw one adult Red-shouldered Hawk and another was calling. An adult Bald Eagle was perched in a tree across the road from the Wood Duck area.

I heard but didn’t see a few Sandhill Cranes calling.

No ducks on the mostly frozen ponds.
