I stopped by these wetlands briefly after a volunteer stint at Darby Creek Days. As mentioned earlier, they're now easily accessible by parking just north of the grain silos and walking east on the mowed path. The evening arrival of ducks, shorebirds, and blackbirds is quite impressive. Quite a few people were out there watching the show, including a family who had dragged in folding chairs! Highlights in a bit over 30 minutes included:

Waterfowl: Pied-billed grebe, Mallards, Black Ducks, N.Shovelers (80+), Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, N.Pintail. Coots (120)

Shorebirds: Kildeer (150+), Am.Golden Plover (5), Gr.Yellowlegs (3), L.Yellowlegs (15), Least Spr (5), Semipalmated Spr (3), Pectoral Spr (5), unidentified peep (20+)

Raptors - N.Harrier (3), Red-tailed hawk (1)

Others - Tree Swallows (60+), Starlings (600+), Redwing Blackbirds (1000+), Savannah Sparrows (20+)
