A visit to this MetroPark west of Columbus found little in the way of migrants; especially slow were waterfowl, though the nice weather may have had a hand in that. Weather was clear, with temperatures reaching the high 60s. Afterwards I stopped at Franks and Spindler Parks in Hilliard. Notables included:
Waterfowl - nothing, really, other than the expected Mallards & Geese; Spindler Park had accumulated 100+ Geese, but will have 4-8X that later in the winter.
Raptors - nothing at Prairie Oaks, but a Kestrel & Sharp-shinned were jousting at Spindler Park.
Shorebirds, Gulls - a few Kildeer were at Prairie Oaks' Darby Bend Lakes, which also had a flyover flock of 16 Bonaparte's Gulls heading SSW.
Thrushes - modest flocks of Robins at many locations, mostly around berry bushes. A small flock of 7 E.Bluebirds was at the entrance to Sycamore Plains in Prairie Oaks.
Pipits, Larks - flyovers at many locations; highest pipit total was 5 at Darby Bend Lakes
Sparrows - lots of Song Sparrows at many locations; heartening was 15+ that had taken up residence along the re-channed Clover-Goff stream at Franks Park, along with a Swamp Sparrow. 2-3 Tree Sparrows were along Beach Rd. in Prairie Oaks.
Blackbirds - small flocks of Redwings and Grackles passed south at Prairie Oaks (along the Darby Creek corridor) early, but no flocks bigger than 30 birds.
Finches - goldfinches at many locations, but no stray siskins with them.
