Quietly observing the signs of migration, after returning home Wednesday
night from continued business in southern California:

Yesterday afternoon (10/6) I observed the first white-crowned sparrow of the
season under the sunflower tube with the house finches.

I haven't seen a hummingbird, although the feeders are up and fresh. An
unusual number of bluebirds are singing around the farmhouse and barns this
morning. I'm not sure what that means (if anything,) but it's delightful.
