I checked Ellis - just to see if anything came in. A little blue heron was there
Yesterday morning. I did not have the opportunity to chase. Well, the dreaded
Construction of yet more warehouses has begun. Yet more habitat lost for birds.
Very sad. I have only been here 2 1/2 years - yet that was one of my favorite spots.
There was still some shorebirds there - in fact more than before. There’s a pump
They’re draining the fields. For the construction. A white rumped is still around.
Plus the usual. Least, Semipalms, Semipalm plovers. I couldn’t find anything different.
Like a Dunlin or Phalaropes. I don’t know whether I will hit here again. I probably will.
It’s just so depressing with the destruction of the place. For warehouses and paved
Parking lots.

My main goal was ycnh at Gilmore. I had this early evening free. Cincinnati FC
Wasn’t starting til 9:30! The YC night heron has been reported around 8:15. At dusk.
I waited til 8:30 or so. Sigh….. it hadn’t shown, I had to walk out. I heard it as I
Was walking out! I turned around and tracked it down! Yea! A needed big year bird.
An adult. They breed here but still tough to see. I also had a group of 9 waxwings.
Feeding. So migrants still around! That was new for the butler big year also. 177.
I love late afternoon and dusk. Birds are moving back to roosting areas. For example,
I had 31 Wood Ducks heading to the main swamp area. As I was waiting on the
Platform at south pond. A Barred Owl was calling. A nice dusk. Especially
Since I got the target bird!

Good birding all.
