The CT Warbler showed well this morning in the same area near the Hidden Ridge Ct entrance. It sang frequently at times but was often hidden from view; however, on occasion it would perch where it could be seen well. Patience and quiet waiting is key. Amazing this bird has stayed so long. It’s often silent & s/t would fly down to the ground and vanish.

I took a quick walk around Denison after 5pm and it was pretty quiet. A chat running thru its repertoire greeted me altho I only got a glimpse of it.

Best bird was as I was leaving. 2 birds zipped past me quite close and I only saw one well: a Canada Warbler! I wasn’t able to relocate it but got a wonderful view as it perched momentarily in the open. No vocalizations. I had a brief glimpse of one at magee last week, one of those “assemble the warbler” looks in a thick bush: bit of necklace on yellow breast, piece of blue-gray back, eye ring…yes Canada but not a v satisfying look—this view was brief but excellent.

At about the same time, I was almost caught in the middle of a groundhog fight—loud growls & chatter then one ran across the path, practically over my boot. The other popped up but ducked down when it saw me, coming across after I stepped away. Pretty funny. Never seen a groundhog fight.
