Took the day to birdwatch- foggy and rainy until around 1030 but I still had some great finds. Highlights:

Caesar Creek: only open water was at Furnas Shore boat ramp- Horned Grebe, Goldeneye, Ruddy Ducks & all 3 mergansers
Beach area- 1 Merlin
North Boat Ramp- Hermit Thrush
Wellman Boat Ramp- 2 immature Bald Eagles
Visitor Center- 2 Bluebirds, 3 Purple Finches (1 male, 2 female)

Best birds were at Spring Valley & Roxana New Burlington Gravel Pit:
Roxana gravel pit- Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Redhead, Ring-necked Ducks

Spring Valley- Virginia Rail (vocalizing at the spring at back end of lake), 2 Swamp Sparrows (same area), flyover of 1700 Geese mostly Canadas but 2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED, & 2 CACKLING picked out, 1 Tundra Swan led the whole group; 10 mins later flocks of the ducks I just saw on the gravel pit came overhead obviously displaced by the geese

Went back to the gravel pit again after Spring Valley and found the large flock of Canada Geese along with the White-fronted & Cackling Geese and the Tundra Swan
