Birding was quiet with just the usual winter birds but nice day to be out. Had 4 kestrels along Rt 37 on the drive there and one more on Rt 33.
Had a mixed flock below the valley view parking area with close looks at Golden-crowned Kinglets with chickadees and titmice. A nice find for me was a Brown Creeper, a bird I’ve missed on my last several outings. Small flock of E Bluebirds near the chestnut trailhead. Mostly Downy & Red-bellied WPs but one Pileated drummed and called loudly.
Carolina Wrens vocal along with a small group of Red-breasted Nuthatches on the Prairie Warbler Trail. The Red-breasteds were making an interesting call, sort of a chittering contact call as they fed fairly high although they also gave their usual nasal call occasionally as well. At least one White-breasted NH there as well.
Found some Sparrows near the creek by Camp Wyandot: just Song & White-throated but picked up a pair of E Towhees there as well.
At Logan Lk, I had 3 Great Blue Herons, 1 Mute Swan and a large group of Canada Geese. Only ducks were Mallards.
