I birded around the Funk Bottoms/Wright Marsh area today. I don’t know the area well so I did a fair amount of wandering around while arguing with my GPS.

Lots of ducks at both places with most expected species seen. Several Tundra Swans and numerous N Pintails at Funk Bottoms & many Ring-necked, canvasbacks & Redheads from Cemetery rd. I did not try for the reported Eur Wigeon supposedly at Wright Marsh as a birder I ran into said that it was a long slog in. I also missed a Wood Duck another birder had seen at Killbuck.

I was also alerted to a White-winged Scoter at Pleasant Hill Lk, a new locale for me so I chased that on the way back to Granville. Easily seen from the marina area.

I also picked up many Com Goldeneye, Hooded and Red-breasted mergansers, an imm Bald Eagle and a Horned Grebe at the lake.

Only raptors were 5 Am Kestrels and 4 Red-taileds although I had a calling Red-Shouldered in my yard in the morning.
