A pair of white breasted nuthatches are apparently in the process of moving into one of my bluebird boxes. It’s one I can see from my patio, about thirty yards away. previous tenants have always been bluebirds at the beginning of the season and wrens at the end, but this year, I guess I’ll watch nuthatches. They’re welcome to stay as long as they behave themselves. It’s only about twenty yards from the suet cakes, so these babies will be well fed. Last year, red bellied woodpeckers would carry suet about 200 yards into the woods to their nest site over and over again.
Have also found a red shouldered hawk on a nest nearby. Also, bluebirds at another nest box. Still looking for the great horned owl nest.
