I had a surprise visitor at one of my many bird feeders this afternoon in
Delaware County, Harlem Township. A Red-breasted Nuthatch visited several
times to pick a few nuts from a seed cylinder cake. This is the earliest
I've had one in my yard, by a long shot. Ron Pittaway's winter finch
forecast should be released sometime soon, so we'll find out if he predicts
an irruptive season for these little guys. Check your feeders if you have
any; you never know what will show up!
