Was doing some audio recordings in various locations over the last couple of years. Anyone have any suggestions as to locations that would be good for recording come spring ? Surprising amount of noise at some locations, planes every fifteen minutes at Sandy Ridge, huge amount of freeway traffic noise at lake Issac, lots of train noise at Beyers Pond . Im not trying to record individual birds , but rather ambient sound field type recordings.

Pretty quiet today and only a small area of open water.

Only ducks were many mallards and 4 Black Ducks.

2 adult Bald Eagles, one Red-tailed Hawk. Several R-B Gulls.

I did hear a Pileated WP. One Tree Sparrow.

O/w, the expected winter birds, and not many of those.

As a side note, the snow & frigid weather finally brought a few birds to my feeders near Hudson (the over-groomed apt yards provide too little cover, not to mention v few trees near the apts). I was pleased to have several Tree Sparrows feeding on the oil sunflower seeds but also partaking of the suet. Also Chickadees, juncos, house finches & Am Goldfinches. A Red-bellied WP came to the suet. One starling as well.
