I stopped by lower Hoover Reservoir and nearby Inniswood MetroPark this
afternoon, and they're still a fairly good spot during the February blahs.
Much of the area above the dam is ice-free, and there are big holes in the
ice up by Walnut St boat ramp. Notables included:

Dabblers - plenty of Mallards still in the dam spillway, but they were
joined by Gadwalls, N.Shovelers, Black Ducks, and a pair of N.Pintails

Divers - Mergansers were the stars above the dam, with rafts of all 3
species. There were also a few Common Goldeneyes in one of the holes by
Walnut St, ramp

Gulls - fair #s of Ring-bills (100+) and Herring (10+), but nothing else
with them so far.

Raptors - an adult Bald Eagle was sitting on the edge of the ice between
Walnut St and the Dam. Even more unusual was a pair of Red-shouldered
Hawks hanging around the Walnut St ramp area.

Woodpeckers - lots of the expected ones at Inniswood, including Pileated

E.Bluebirds - 3 were foraging along the edge of the spillway below the dam,
while another 3 were along one of the forest rails at Inniswood

Sparrows - still largely no-shows, with only a few Songs and White-throats
at each spot
