Here's an attempt at directions to the typical Upland Sandpiper area at the OSU Livestock Facility next to OSU's Don Scott Airport- I've seen them twice there.
On W Case Road there is an entrance gate to the livestock facility- it's always open when I've looked. It's along W Case Road west of the Fire Station that's located at the Dierker Rd intersection (before you get to Sawmill Road). Drive in this gate, you'll travel along a farm 'road' (unpaved) that will head west for a while and then turn right / north- you'll see barns on your left towards Sawmill Rd, but don't go there. Stay on the farm road. It will turn right / east and you'll travel along a tall chainlink fence. Eventually you'll come to a 90 degree turn to the left (north again) along a tall chainlink fence once again, and you can see a runway on the other side of the fence to the east. This longish stretch of farm road takes a turn to the left / west along a sizable patch of woods, but don't go that far- the Upland Sandpipers (both times I've seen them) were on the fenceposts to your left / west in the fields (at the same time the airport tall chainlink fence is to your right / east). Sometimes the Upland Sandpipers fly around the area, and once I saw them perched on the tall chainlink fence.
I hope this helps, it sounds a bit confusing but when you get there its easier to figure out. Keep an eye out for other birders' cars in the area. Some people worry if they are trespassing but I've never had a problem at all, OSU's facilities (such as Waterman Farm along Kenny Road) are open to the public- I talked to an OSU police officer once at Waterman and he was fine with me being there.
Good birding!
