I stopped briefly at these neighboring parks in northeast Columbus and
found lots of birds antsy in the warming temperatures. Both Thoreau Lake
and Big Walnut Creek had large patches of open water and had good
waterfowl, and interesting landibrds were in both places. The list
included:

Dabblers - Gadwalls at both spots, while Blendon also had American Wigeon
(5), and Wood Ducks, along with the usual horde of BlackDucks, Mallards,
and geese
Divers - 5 Redheads at Blendon
Mergansers - Hoodeds at both spots, while Blendon also had 1
Red-br.Merganser
Bald Eagles - 2 adult birds were perched and flying around Cherrybottom and
the neighborhood north of it. Tough to say if they were prospecting
nesting territories or waiting to move further north
Pileated Woodpecker - 1 was calling at Cherrybottom
WinterWren - 1 was playing around in the snow at Cherrybottom
E.Bluebirds - 1-2 at both spots
Yellow-rumped Warbler - could only find 1, and it was at Cherrybottom
TreeSparrow - singles were at the Nature Center feeders at Blendon and at
Cherrybottom
