I want to acknowledge the many thoughtful replies I got to my rant on
birders and snowy owls. I wish I could pass along the information I
received, but most of it was private and off Ohio-birds. Two
photographers actually mentioned Susan Sontag! Suffice it to say I've
broadened my outlook on the topic, and enjoyed conversation with some
thoughtful birders. More people than I thought observed owls to learn
from them, rather than just taking and ticking the birds. May they
educate the rest of us!
