Not being familiar with the area where a Long-tailed Duck had been reported on ebird, I decided to check it out today. I found the locked habitat area for which one needs to obtain a permit but I was able to get a decent view of a stretch of river from the public road. No waterfowl at all. Aside from an ad Bald Eagle perched on one of the high voltage towers & a few Tree Sparrows in the brush, it was v quiet. There were quite a few large groups of crows on the drive over and in the general area. I also saw a couple kestrels and Red-taileds. A few TVs.

I then went to Dillon State Park via a scenic route provided by my GPS. Must’ve been 100 or so Ring-billed Gulls. I was delighted to find one Cackling Goose with a small group of Canadas off the beach. Always amazing how small they are when you can see them right next to a Canada. Heard a killdeer, a flyover I think as I never spotted one.

Marina had nothing.
