I am dying over here (not really but close). We are on Kelleys Island
until November 22 attempting to band Northern Saw-whet Owls and it is
a very down year. Only 11 so far and my 16 year average is 35. Last
year we had 86...

The Calliope is on my Top Ten most want Ohio birds. Hopefully it is
around for the long haul. As consolation, Paula and I had 86,500+ off
Long Point yesterday between 8 and 9 AM. That is a conservative
estimate; it is more than I have seen in 22 years of avian studies on
the island. We have had American White Pelicans this week but none
yesterday. Cormorants are no match for Calliope Hummingbird!

Keep the feeders full until November 23...

Tom
