Wonderful morning for FOY birds at Denison. Prothonotary Warbler was a new warbler for the reserve and FOY. I never get tired of looking at them—they just glow. It was insect-catching low to the water by one of the ponds. I did not hear it sing.
I was also delighted to hear then see my FOY Prairie Warbler singing near the parking lot. then I heard and saw another one on the far side of the swallow field. I thought they may have been considering nesting last year as I had a pair that seemed to be staking out a territory but after about 2 1/2 weeks they were gone. Maybe this year?
