This morning--with calm and very bright conditions--there was no sign of the Shrike at Zane State College. I did not see it yesterday either, and the second time I attempted to relocate it on Wednesday, kids were crashing around in the woods right behind the bluebird box where I last spotted it. And the kids have begun to construct a fort in the area. I don't know if this "invasion" will affect the birds along this part of the trail or not.
I'll keep everyone posted. I walk the trail every day with my dog--except when it's raining. She's not a fan of rain, but--being part husky--she does not mind if it's 20 below with the wind chill. So we'll walk the trail every day this fall and winter just as we did last fall and winter and report any unusual sightings.
