Loads of coot! 640 to be precise….. gadwall, Ruddy ducks, PB Grebes.
I hit Highland this afternoon after chores as I am working on that list.
And probably wont be in Highland much at all in 2023 with my Butler
Big year. The place looks different. Even beyond the mowing they did.
Interesting…… I have not been there in awhile. A Harrier and then a
Red shouldered hawk flying were nice. Spent more time here than I
Figured - counting coot!

Oldaker wildlife area was my primary destination. And didn’t actually spend
Much time here with hunters around. I was going to bushwack a bit. No.
Next trip! White throated and Swamp Sparrows back. Towhee central.
Etc.

Butterfly notes - sunny and warm! Fun still seeing them. Most numerous
Was the Clouded Sulphurs. An interesting bug was a tiny - very tiny -
Pearl Crescent. The butterflies are usually smaller in the fall, but not that
Small!

Good birding all.
