At Howard, in addition to my previous posts, I enjoyed Com Gallinules w/young. Don’t think I’ve ever seen chicks before. V cute Black fuzz balls w/red bills. Watched an Osprey feeding a begging bird.
Metzger: Black-necked Stilt (pointed out by another birder who had scoped it. Way out from the spit—would never have seen it w/o the tip—thx!). Warbling Vireos, E Kingbirds feeding begging young; imm Baltimore Oriole, Snowy Egret.
At Grimm Prairie Ottawa, heard-only Henslow’s Sparrows. I flushed a lone Bobolink who flew off “pinking”.
Decided to head home via Killdeer Plains, an area I don’t know well, having only been there for the Sharp-tailed SP. quiet, but picked up a few more Trip species: Solitary SP, Kestrel, Kingfisher, Field Sparrow & a flyby Red-headed WP.
