Having been in Michigan with family until yesterday, I'm just getting
started on 2018 birding. This afternoon, I dressed warmly and walked at the
Secrest Arboretum at the OARDC just south of Wooster. I was able to find
one of the resident mockingbirds, as well as several golden-crowned
kinglets and a few horned larks.

The best find for January was a small flock of *5-6 cedar waxwings* that
were hanging out in a clump of magnolias in front of the Miller Pavilion in
the northern-most part of the arboretum. That's one I missed in January
2017. Randy Rowe, Wooster
