After reading a post on the daily ebird rarity report about a Blue Grosbeak family at the Granville Schools Land Lab, I checked this new locale for me this morning and again this evening.
Lovely spot with beautiful fields of wildflowers. I heard Blue Grosbeaks then saw one perched briefly, an immature I believe. I had missed this bird so far this year so I was happy to see it.
A striped skunk shaking off the heavy morning dew was cute.
The expected birds. Saw a male kestrel in the morning then a pair in the evening. Wondering if they nested? There was at least one kestrel box there.
Also had a Red-tailed Hawk, Great Blue Heron.
A few Monarch Butterflies were sampling the milkweed and I saw a sulphur carrying a cabbage white—odd.
