One final run through Armleder with the snow covered fields.
Hoping for larks there. Good for my inat big year! No. Just a few
spots along the road edge with dirt. Had the usual winter sparrows -
White crowned, white throated, tree. And a Chipping Sparrow! Good
Feb. bird. Early back? Or wintering there? With the snow cover, birds
are forced into more open areas.
Went walking the connector trail some for a snow flea. Again, no.
And it was very quiet here.
Lost bridge was super! I figured the water would be frozen. I didn't
figure on a small patch of the quarry pond open, and loaded with
waterfowl! Thats just fun to see! Some counts and species -
I ended with 14 species of waterfowl here.
380 Canadas - most were on the river. I scanned for rarities! They are
in Clermont!
1 Shoveler
2 Wigeon
2 Pintail
2 green winged teal
1 Canvasback
76 Redhead
73 common Goldeneye
Fun!
Now do I chase Ross's monday? with the rain - and melt - stuff is going
to be dispersing. Hmmm.... or do i spend a few hours at rowe woods
for winter finches - that I can't seem to track down!
Good birding all.
