Brad Sparks just called and asked that I post the presence of a sandhill
crane in Bluewing Pond at Pickerington Ponds (east off Bowen Road north
of Wright Road) just minutes ago, an unusual sight around here this time
of year.
Reminds me to mention that the Ohio Bird Records Committee just
accepted the whooping crane to the official Ohio list, based on
historical evidence; for the time being, a wild whooper here now however
is only a pipe-dream. The accepted records date from the 19th century.
