I headed back to the southern part of the Deer Creek Wildlife Area again this morning. I was glad to finally add LeCONTE'S SPARROW to my Deer Creek list. The habitat sure looked perfect for them, but I had never seen one there until today. Two Nelson's Sparrows (presumably the same two as on the 4th) were also relocated. The birds were in the same general area but not together. The LeConte's was alone and the Nelson's were with a Marsh Wren and a small flock of Swamp Sparrows. At least one Henslow's Sparrow was also seen today near the southern entrance. How often do you get 3 Ammodramus species in Ohio within an hour and one of them isn't Grasshopper? Today got warm once the sun was well up and birds were in general a lot quieter today and hunkered down. Common Yellowthroats were all over the place in the wetlands on the 3rd with fewer on the 4th. Today I didn't even hear one. I flushed a few Soras when poking around. Bald Eagle, N Harrier, and Osprey were in the area today too.

Yeah, the Laughing Gull is still at the beach.
