Julie and I took a short walk this morning at Kirby Preserve which is part
of Old Reid Park northeast of Springfield. We were surprised to hear an
early Alder Flycatcher singing along Beaver Creek. It sang for a long time
as we left the bird and returned about a half hour later and it was still
singing. We also heard and then saw a Mourning Warbler. We thought this was
a bit early also. We got great looks at it in a brush pile and observed it
for a minute or more.
