Yeah, I know we discussed this years ago, but the Ohio Historical
Society--recently renamed the Ohio Historical 'Connection' (yuck)--now
has some really neat ways for us citizens to inspect the precious
objects in its collections.
This

just might interest a birder up to her hubcaps in snow. I'm a big fan
of birding without a car from time to time.
Yes, this is the pipe image many of us discussed a couple of years ago,
but the OHS--OK, the OH"C"--now has some nifty new ways for ordinary
folks to scrutinize these treasures. Check out all the buttons--you can
do everything but smell it! Previously, the big dispute was: does the
image represent a Carolina parakeet--as Mills characterized it--or a
"hawk"--more precisely, a peregrine falcon, based largely on the facial
mask-- as others would have it? I'm not gonna press anew my own opinion,
but observant birders will have a lot of features to look at, some of
which may point in different directions...just what were they smokin'
down in Scioto County, anyway?
