Hoping to see the reported albino swallows, after birding the Marie Hickey trail at Blackhand Gorge, I headed to the causeway area.
While photographing one of the 4 Great Blues fishing the causeway, one all white swallow flew past me at eye level but quickly disappeared downstream. I hung around for awhile but did not see it again even after good numbers of Rough-wingeds showed up to feed fairly low on the water or perching on the wires.
Aside from a couple Barn Swallows, most swallows were Rough-winged so I guess it’s a reasonable presumption that the albino is also. Tail definitely not Barn.
I did not get a photo but it’s pretty amazing to see a bright white swallow whiz by!
Also had a Spotted SP there.
Fairly quiet in the Marie Hickey trail. Heard Kentucky Warbler briefly & also saw a couple Am Redstarts. White-eyed Vireos were vocal and I saw a couple family groups. Red-eyed heard As well as Wood Thrushes & Acadians.
