I figured that would happen with the low temps. But theres a deeper pond there
across the street. And that was open. The usual Mallards, Canadas, and a couple
Gadwall were there. That was my visit coming home from Oxbow in Indiana.
My first visit before I hit Oxbow I had fewer numbers and less species. The
birds were either out feeding, or smack against the close edge - and hence not
visible.
I keep hoping for a rare goose. None today!
A treat was 75 Sandhill Cranes in low flight as I headed home. Near Lost bridge.
I wonder if they roost in the area?
Oxbow was half frozen. Still some birds lingering in the open water areas.
And good numbers of YR Warblers. I haven't seen many around SW Ohio lately.
Good birding all. And happy CBC's!
