I took a walk in Big Creek Reservation this morning just north of Stumph Road. I found a spot near some big Japanese honeysuckle plants along the creek. There were two American Redstarts singing just above where I was standing in the honeysuckles. A male and female rose-breasted grosbeak stopped by the honeysuckles for a few minutes. I could hear two wood thrushes singing their erie songs in the woods nearby. Then, a black and white warbler flew onto a small tree to look for bugs while a hermit thrush hopped around on the ground to look through the leaf litter. All in one spot.

I was happy to actually see a wood thrush a short time later. I usually only see the hermit thrushes and only hear the wood thrushes.

I also saw a number of chimney swifts high up above the trees.

That was a special little area. A few minutes earlier I saw four red foxes in the woods.
