Sounds like Horned Larks, at least that's likely what they would be around here. (Western Ohio to Central Indiana)Dark ones could be Lapland Longspurs, but often those are more in the middle of fields. If there is snow cover, it could be a mixed flock of Horned Larks, Lapland Longspurs, and Snow Buntings!!

in the car when I see them. Are these Snow Buntings?
