Hi all,

So here's something I hadn't seen before. A dark swallowtail
butterfly--from my angle I couldn't get distinguishing details, I think a
female Tiger Swallowtail--went to get nectar from a forst in a rown of
annual flowers in the neighbors' yard. Within a second, a female
Ruby-throated Hummingbird arrived an chases the butterfly. The butterfly
went to a few flowers down, and the hummer chases it away again. this
happened about five times. I wonder if the hummer was letting the butterfly
scout out the nectar-rich flowers...

Best wishes to all,

Steve Cagan
