Too muggy to stay long but I wanted to get a walk in before retreating to air conditioning for the day.
Had a family group of vocal White-eyed Vireos w/adults bringing food incl a big grub or caterpillar to the fledglings. I presume a 2nd clutch? V cute. Also heard Red-eyed Vireo.
Nice adult Red-shouldered Hawk. Heard a Black-billed Cuckoo by one of the ponds.
Couple Com YTs singing.
O/w, quiet: towhees, catbirds, grackles. Heard Indigo Buntings. A couple Purple Martins. I did not see the melanistic Downy WP.
Seems like I have fewer RT hummers. I had to put out another feeder a couple weeks ago but now the activity is much slower. Perhaps headed south?
