Took my wife over to Killdeer Plains to get her Red-necked Grebe today
(pond 3) The whole area was active today.
If you needed it, it was probably there someplace. :-D
Had a report of Sandhill Drains over on Washburn...but couldn't relocate.
The big ponds on the reserve were full of Tundras and Trumpeters...looked
like the males were defending their mates.
As I was leaving on CR71, near CR123...I saw what I thought was leaf litter
on the road...it wasn't...it was a Woodcock!...quick Stop the car!!! It was
safe, and it danced along like it didn't care. So I took some pictures of
it...and as it was getting back into the grass I pulled ahead and
parked...got out to get some good natural shots...and it flew off...oh well.
Nothing else major except to ask if anyone knows why the above ground
reservoir is about out of water?
Later
