In addition to the Avocet at Dillon SP beach (which I was happy to see as it was an OH bird for me—I’ve managed to miss several!), and the Franklin’s Gull today, there were 2 Trumpeter Swans. On my way to Dillon alongside Rt 16, I saw 3 or 4 swans in a pond not far from the road but couldn’t stop. Definitely had black bills and I presuming they were likely Trumpeters as well.
All the birds were at scope distances in light drizzle this morning so I couldn’t really ID any small shorebirds but not sure I saw any. Views from NR 7 weren’t any better. A few Greater Yellowlegs & several Killdeer, 1 Kingfisher, Great Blue Herons (only about a dozen compared to the ~200 I saw last Thursday), a few DC Cormorants.
Only ducks I could positively ID were mallards.
Besides the Franklin’s, I saw a few Bonaparte’s, Ring-billed & Herring.
