Two pine siskins made a brief appearance this morning at our feeders. No thistle, so they seem to have moved on. A juvenile yellow-bellied sapsucker has been feeding at our suet feeder for the past three days. A red-headed woodpecker has been coming to the peanut feeder since Thanksgiving, a first for the winter in the 15 years we've lived here; two of them were coming to the feeder last spring, also a first for our yard. A Carolina wren and northern mockingbird are occasional visitors beyond the usual juncos, etc. A white-throated sparrow and tree sparrow were firsts of the year yesterday.
