As some of you are aware, for a while now I have been looking for an opportunity to move back to my home town of Syracuse. Well, my search has borne fruit and in two weeks I will be departing. I just wanted to post a goodbye to the list and express my thanks to various individuals. [...]49_10Feb200811:33: [log in to unmask] |

I enjoyed a great sighting of Snow Buntings this morning as I drove home from
Bowling Green. I have regularly seen a small flock or two in this area each
winter for several years but this was a spectacle to behold. Today there were
Snow Buntings scattered and flocked along both sides of the road for over a
mile. I am confident there were over 2000 birds. All SNBUs. The fields were
partially flooded and many birds were concentrated along the road eating spilled
grain left over from the fall harvest. The location is Southeast of Bowling
Green on Cloverdale Road from Greensburg Pike South past Mermill Rd. About
dead center of DeLorme Block 36B4. I would expect the birds to remain fairly
concentrated until the water recedes.
