Today at the Martin-Marietta gravel pit lake on the south side of
Roxanna-New Burlington Road near Spring Valley Wildlife Area:
In addition to many Canada geese and coots, an impressive showing of 14
species of ducks:

*dabblers*
mallards
pintails (at least 50)
gadwalls
black ducks
Am. widgeon

*divers*
redheads
ring-necked ducks
goldeneye
ruddy ducks
canvasback
bufflehead
lesser scaup
hooded merganser
common merganser (1 pair)

Surely this extremely productive lake should eventually become public land
managed for wildlife and public enjoyment!
