It’s just a matter of free time. I’m happy to to get 0-4 hours each week to go birding. Between work, volunteering, my family, my girlfriend, continuing education opportunities, professional development opportunities, and trying to keep some semblance of a reasonable household I don’t have a lot of time to get into the field.

If someone wants to consider me a slacker, they’ll have to get over it. I’m too busy to care. I suspect many others are in the same situation. Meanwhile I’m leading a field trip this morning. Maybe we’ll find something worthy of a chase but I’m happy to show common birds and normal migrants to people as well.
