In addition to my FOY Brown Thrasher, I saw a flock of 12 Common Redpolls today at Buck Creek State Park in Clark County. They were in the treetops of sweet gum trees foraging and making their distinctive calls. To say the least, I was surprised to see them.

I saw them at ~11 AM at the end of the picnic / frisbee golf access road where the road ends in a turn-around loop, near frisbee golf hole #17.  They foraged for a few minutes then took off.  I actually saw one of them yesterday high in a sweet gum tree at the Buck Creek SP horse pavillion off of Grant Rd but it was a poor look and I didn't believe what I saw then. So it looks like it is possible that these birds may be seen high up in sweet gum trees if they haven't left the area.
