The Hoary Redpoll yet again put on a show throughout the day at the extreme NW corner of the old coast guard station off Wendy Park. The bird flies a circuit between a cottonwood stand on the east side of the river, the fields on the mainland, but religiously reappears at the coast guard spot every 30-45 minutes. Patience is required. There is absolutely no reason to approach closely, as looks and photos have been extraordinary by giving the bird ample space. The immature Pomarine Jaeger continues to frequent the harbor and offshore the outer breakwall. Patience required. It seems that early morning and late day the bird makes the closest approach off the guard station. At least one Snowy Owl continues and was viewed well at the westernmost point of Burke Lakefront Airport, best viewed from the East 9th street pier.
