Hi all,

Conditions were nice this morning to look at Gulls on Lake Erie. The water temperature and air temperatures must be fairly equalized as heat shimmer was very low. Not many Gulls by the beach at Edgewater as has been the case in previous weeks, but Wendy Park was pretty good.

From the beach at Wendy and walking out to the coast guard station I found 7 Glaucous Gulls, 1 Iceland Gull, many Great Black-backed Gulls, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull. Herring Gulls dominated the numbers as all were feasting on fish. Ring-billed numbers were relatively modest. Cormorants are gathering in larger numbers and there is a lot of breeding behavior/posturing going on with the Gulls.

I didn’t check the woodlot today as my goal was to try to study the White-winged Gulls and was not disappointed. A scope is obviously helpful.
